The resort recently unveiled The Juniper Initiative, a project focused on raising awareness about the Bermuda Cedar, a critically endangered tree species that symbolizes the island’s natural heritage.

The Juniper Initiative is more than just a marketing scheme. Every purchase of the signature Juniper & Tonic, lovingly referred to as “J&T,” contributes directly to environmental efforts. For each drink sold, a dollar is donated towards planting Bermuda Cedar trees, highlighting a commitment to restoring a vital part of the island’s ecosystem—reinforcing the idea that enjoying a cocktail can also lead to positive change.

At the heart of the Rosewood Bermuda experience is the Conservatory Bar & Lounge, an inviting space dedicated to gin lovers. It hosts the “Cocktails for Conservation” series, where guests can explore a curated collection of over 40 types of gin from around the globe, alongside engaging daily tastings. This unique approach not only draws in visitors but also provides them a platform to partake in sustainable practices with every sip.

One of the highlights of the drink menu is the J&T cocktail, which artfully combines the tartness of lime and the warmth of ginger-infused gin with a smooth melon liqueur. This concoction is emblematic of Bermuda’s lush landscapes and pays homage to the endangered Bermuda Cedar. Additionally, the bar offers a non-alcoholic option, the Green Garden Cooler, which echoes the initiative’s mission to support environmental rehabilitation efforts without involving alcohol.

Andrew Archibald, the managing director of Rosewood Bermuda, emphasizes that The Juniper Initiative encapsulates their overarching commitment to sustainability and emotional investment in the island’s environment. By collaborating with organizations like the Bermuda National Trust, they facilitate the planting and preservation of Bermuda Cedar trees in local reserves.
